These also produce very little heat and the power adapter is far smaller and more lightweight than previous versions. I never buy anything anymore that isn't gigabit. Pleased with every aspect. These devices are incredibly reliable and are almost universally compatible with anything you could plug in it. I use these in the workplace for computer setups that are in an area where more Ethernet ports are needed, but aren't present, and for temporary training setups where we have several computers in one area.
Not a big deal since I am not keeping it in my pocket or storing chocolate on top of it. But until that day, this switch is serving its purpose very well. I use this switch to network my PS3 with my ReadyNAS Duo and stream movies to my TV. But Im going to guess after long use it may take its toll on the internal components. Netgear GS605NA Giga Switch 5Port This switch does a great job streaming HD content and browsing huge files off my NAS. When you start pushing the switch with 1080p content it gets really hot.
Love the fact that there is no need for crossover cables when going from switch to switch. Works great. No issues at all.
Obviously, I'll be spending the extra $10 and doing what I should have done in the first place - BUYING THE LINKSYS VERSION.Only buy this product if you don't mind your purchase having a built-in expiration date. I bought a pair of these three years ago and they both worked flawlessly until about three days ago. Once it was clear that one of the units was dying, I touched base with Netgear to see about a replacement. And they essentially told me to piss off since it's out of warranty. So now I have to spend at least $40 for a new unit to get my network back up and running.
I've had this switch two years.Pro's: No noise, no issues, price.Cons: None for a switch in this price range
